Poppy
There are a number of different poppies and they are all very pretty flowers that have one stem each. Some grow by themselves while others grow in bunches. Poppies grow wild but it is not uncommon to find them growing in gardens such as alpine or rock gardens. Different types of species of poppies consist of different colors such as while, pink, red, blue, orange and yellow. Many species of poppies have a dark center.
The two most common genera of poppies are the Papaver, which includes the Oriental poppy, the Iceland poppy, the corn poppy, the Opium poppy and approximately 120 other species of poppies, and Eschscholzia, which are the California poppy and all of its relatives.
Besides poppy seed muffins, poppies have been used as an herbal medicine for a variety of different types of health concerns. For example, the California poppy can be used as a powerful herbal tranquilizer. Take either two capsules or a half-teaspoon of the poppy Tincture and consume it three to four times per day, or as per the directions on the label. In Chinese medicine the blue poppy is used to make an antifungal ointment as it helps to rid toxins from the affected area, end inflammation, and discourage itching. There is also a popular herbal tonic called the coriander poppy seed remedy that is helpful for those who suffer from vertigo. Learn more about this remedy at http://www.holisticonline.com.
