A fever is the body's normal and healthy reaction to infection and other illnesses, both minor and serious. It helps the body fight infection. Fever is a symptom, not a disease. In most cases, having a fever means you have a minor illness. When you have a fever, your other symptoms will help you determine how serious your illness is.

Treating a feverWhat you Should Eat

Choose liquid food over solid food.
Eat foods that are easily digestible.
Eat boiled or steamed vegetables, vegetable soup, Honey and yogurt.
Eat fresh fruits and drink fresh fruit juices.
Drink cows milk in small quantity 2 to 3 times a day.
Eat khichdi with spices like cumin seeds, ginger, turmeric, coriander, and salt added to it.
Completely avoid heavy foods like fast food, chicken, fish, raw foods and fried foods.

Treatment

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

A great fever reducer because it promotes perspiration, and is often used in conjunction with elderflowers and Peppermint. If you have the Flu, it is a mild pain reliever for the achiness common with the Flu.

Ground Ivy (Glechoma hederacea)

This astringent, decongestant herb not only reduces fever, but drys excess mucus in the throat, nose, ear, sinuses and bronchi.

Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria)

This herb contains aspirin-like compounds that offer pain relief and lowers fevers. It is safe for children and adults alike with its digestive soothing properties and stomach Acid lowering ability.

Elder (Sambucus nigra)

Elder reduces fever, Muscle ache, Cough and speed recovery by promoting sweating. It is part of a traditional formula for colds when combined with Peppermint and Yarrow.

In most cases, the illness that caused the fever will clear up in a few days. You usually can treat the fever at home if you are in good health and do not have any medical problems or significant symptoms with the fever. Make sure that you are taking enough foods and fluids and urinating in normal amounts.
