This is an essential amino Acid. Your body does not produce L-tryptophan and must get it from the foods you eat. L-tryptophan is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin and is very important in helping the body regulate Sleep and mood.
L-tryptophan was banned in the United States in 1989 because of its link to a blood disorder. A recent investigation showed the contaminate that got people sick was created when the manufacturer tried to improperly fuse two L-tryptophan molecules together. Many people outside the United States still use and believe L-tryptophan to be completely safe.
