MILK THISTLE

Silybum marianum

Uses: medicinal culinary
Native to the Mediterranean region but, can be found across asia and North America, the Milk Thistle leaves are glossy with painted creamy white veins. The medicinal extract is know as Silymarin and is used as a tonic for the liver and may even help to regenerate the livers cells. Some German studies have found the extract to be good for Stomach ulcers. This herb is generally safe, with the only noted side effect being Diarrhea.
