Purslane (portulaca oleracea)
Contributor:  KathiG
this common, flat, spreading garden "weed" has long been added to salads by those who enjoy slightly bitter wild greens.

it turns out that purslane is high in magnesium, one of the many minerals that people with chronic Muscle spasms tend to be deficient in.  james a. duke, ph.d., author ot 'the green pharmacy", recommends eating purslane, steamed or raw, along with spinach and other high-magnesium foods.  although purslane is the focus of much new research, it's not yet available in supplement form, so get it fresh from your favorite gardening friend.
