Decoctions

Decoctions are used for hard, woody-like roots and stems whose constituents

Are water soluble and non-volatile.

A basic decoction recipe

1 oz/30 gm herb or blend of herbs

1 pint/600 ml water

Cut or crush herb place into a saucepan with the water. simmer (do not boil)

With the pot lid slightly off the pot, until the volume reduces by one quarter.

Cool, strain and drink decoction throughout the day.

Decoctions are intended for immediate use and should be used within 72 hours.  Decoction should be stored in a  refrigerator or in a cool dark area.
